1. Travel Information By plane The first
possibility is coming straight in to Erfurt Airport (please see http://www.airport-erfurt.de). Those
who fly, for instance, with the cheap airline RyanAir, please keep in
mind that the earlier you book the cheaper it is. At the moment RyanAir
doesn't fly to Erfurt. RyanAir flies from London (Stansted) to
Altenburg (Leipzig, Saxonia). To travel from Altenburg to Erfurt by
train takes around 2 hours. You can reach
Erfurt by train from all major German cities by fast trains (Erfurt is
an ICE- train station). For further information please see: http://www.bahn.de You can quite easily reach Erfurt by car from all major German cities, too. For further travel information by car please see: http://www.de.map24.com/. From Nordhausen (B4) please take the gateway “Thüringen-Park” and follow the sign “Universität” or “Uni”. From Gotha or
Weimar (B7) please follow the sign “Universität” or
“Uni”. See map. From Erfurt
main station you can reach the campus of the University of Erfurt
(Conference Secretariat of SLS-IS 2006) as well as the City Centre of
Erfurt by tram No 3 (direction “Europaplatz”) and No 6
(direction “Rieth”). The stop “University” is
located directly at the main entrance of the campus. The venue of the SLS-IS 2006 is located at the City Centre of Erfurt. You will find
the Conference Secretariat of SLS-IS as well as the offices of the
Independent Research Group and the Centre for Research on Education at
the campus of the University of Erfurt. Accommodation is not provided by the Conference Organizer, but assistance is offered. We negotiated very cheap rates with some of the hotels. For further information, please inquire about hotel rooms at our website. For reservation and booking of your hotel room, please use the keyword “SLS-IS 2006” if you write to the hotels yourself (up to the 15th August, 2006; then our contingent will be cancelled automatically).
